Roderigo pockets the coins and takes out a needle and a bottle of ink and sets to.  It hurts like hell, but I’ve been hurt worse. He makes a few jabs with the needle and then dabs the bloody dots with ink. Soon the dark blue anchor starts to appear.  Even though I’m biting my lip, I have to admire his skill and speed.  In fifteen minutes he’s done.
Don’t wash it for a while,” he says, turning next to Davy, who ain’t acting all so brave now that he’s seen me get the needle…

 ~Bloody Jack Chapter 18, L.A. Meyer
So, from the moment I first read this (five years ago) I’ve known that someday, somehow I would adorn the “small anchor with a little rope around it and HMS Dolphin underneath in small letters”.  Now I am faced with the day it will be possible, in a few short week’s I’ll be 18, and my parents (read Mom) will let me get a tattoo.
Now I would love for this to be my first Tattoo, but problems do arise.  I would have gotten this tattoo alone, but my sisters (okay one’s a cousin, but I feel like she’s my sister) also are planing on getting the same tattoo, only the younger must also wait until her 18th birthday.  Being in the true Jacky spirit of sisterhood, I promised her I would wait, and we would all three get them together.  Alas I must wait a few more years before this long awaited symbol marks my skin.
